Sorry, that there haven't been more NEWS NOTES of late but I am starting a new
full time job tomorrow and there's only so many hours in the day!
15.1 For those who may have been following the fantasy-prone hypothesis debate
re UFO abductions I came across a Journal article which might be of interest.
"Psychological Reports" (1990) 66:655-658, carries an article titled "Fantasy
Proneness and Paranormal beliefs" by Dr Harvey Irwin of the University of New
England. The abstract reads as follows:-
"The report of personal parapsychological experiences has been linked with the
personality construct of fantasy proness. It is possible that the factor of
paranormal belief mediates this association. Certainly some data suggest that
paranomral belief is conducive to the report of parapsychological experiences.
This study examined the feasibilty of the other facet of the issue, namely that
fantasy proness facilitates paranormal belief. For a group of 92 adults a
measure of fantasy proness correlated significantly with belief in traditional
religious concepts, psi, witchcraft, spiritualism, extraordinary life forms,
and precognition."
15.2  The "Skeptical Inquirer" Vol 15 Spring 1991 pages 274-280 carries an item
about certain health professionals and "survivor' stories of satanic cults in
the US. There appears to be a number of similarities between UFO abduction
research conducted by some health professionals and ufologists, and satanic
cult research. If anyone wishes a copy let me know.
15.3  The same issue of the 'Inquirer' also has a short piece on the Kecksburg
UFO crash which has featured in recent MUFON Journals. Written by an astronomer
it tells a much different story to the MUFON account.

Although I do believe that there has been contacts with beings from UFO's, I
found the people in the ACA interviews a bit hard to take. One person summed
it up rather neatly; frustrated, a bit unbalanced and starving for
attention.

I saw the Current Affair segment and was a litle disappointed that the
interviewer did not seek to present a segment where there were pro and
con viewpoints. There is quite a debate raging in the US between
competing hypotheses. The views of Budd Hopkins, as expressed in the
ACA segment are not news, they have been around for several years now.
Personally, I would have liked to have seen a segment contrasting ETH
and other hypotheses to explain abductions.

In contrast to the US scene, abduction research in Australia has been
almost exclusively conducted away from the media spotlight.

"Alien Liaison - the Ultimate Secret" by Timothy Good (242 pages,
Century), is an interesting read, however there is little in the way
of really solid data.  If one uses the scientific criteria that
extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence you have the the
claims but certainly not the evidence.
Chapters are as follows:
1. Aerial Confrontation - mainly about pilot encounters, some
interesting material for those of you who have not seen this stuff
before. The chapter ends by getting into pilot John Lear's material re
"a deal" between aliens & the US government.  Good qualifies this
fortunately with the following:
"John Lear's statements have naturally provoked a great deal of
outrage, effectively alienating him from the mainstream of 'serious'
UFO research.  He has now admitted to me that some of his sources have
proved to be completely unreliable and that he has occassionally made
wild and exaggerated statements.  Yet he maintains that the scenario
is basically true.  And in one respect, at least, he could be right."
From this Good launches into the cattle mutlilation saga.
2. A Question of Need? - basically a summary of the "mute" saga.  All
I can say is that if "mutes" are such an integral part of the UFO
phenomenon, why don't we have them happening here.  There is not a
single credible case in Australia to my knowledge.  The Adelaide hills
story of a few years ago has no solid basis.
3. Colorado Breakthrough - this is an intriguing story, but not
original to Tim Good.  If the story is of interest to you consult
the original report in the APRO Bulletin  which is where I read it
back in 1978-79.
4. Alien Dimensions - brings together a number of tales varying in
credibility.  The Nixon letters to contactee Dan Fry are fairly
pointless & irrelevant.  The Gerald Light letter while provocative is
still totally unconfirmed.  Light I gather was an esoteric writer
about whom little is known and yet there are researchers who are
prepared to accept his letter as "fact" and embark on leaps of logic
from there.  The rest of the stories are largely apocryphal.  Reagan's
flirtation with UFOs gets a run.  While Tim Good dwells on the benign
alien dimensions he does at least mention the more "dangerous
liaisons" (the fatalities in Brazil See Vallee's Confrontations).
5. Hardware - largely covers known cases. The Segeant Brown tale is
interesting.  The book repeats Geralsd Anderson's story of being a
young witness to the Magdalena "retrieval", but there appear to be
good reasons to suspect this source.  The Jackie Gleason/Nixon story
gets a run.  In short many rather apocryphal tales get mentioned, some
just rate a passing mention.  Even Australia get a mention with 2
tales - one an early version of the Boulia sphere story (the latter
were identified as Russian hardware) and UFOs coming out of Pine Gap.
other chapters are Project Aquarius, Dreamland, Alien Technology,
Containers, and Cosmic Journey.
I found the book worth reading but it fails to provide a strong case
for "alien liaison".  2 chapters focus on the Bob Lazar saga.
Thankfully Bill Coopers wild tales don't get a look in.  Cosmic
Journey covers Bob Oechsler's strange experiences.  While interesting
there is much that concerned me there.
Thats all I have time for tonight.  If time permits I'll put a
further message up on the book.

It is curious indeed that Lord Hill-Norton, former Chief of
Defense Staff and senior NATO commander, actually seems to
believe that governments are "covering-up" over UFO's.

Of all the people, once in a position to have been aware of such
things, surly it would have been him.   Yet plainly he thinks
that there are departments who know, not only of confirmed
sightings but of even more dramatic evidence.

A UFO expert called me up the other day and said: "They've got
bodies, you know."

Would the distinguished Lord Hill-Norton, former captain of the
Ark Royal, go along with that too?

MIRACLES

Michael Harrington, a reviewer of the latest, plainly daft book
on the topic, Alien Liaison; The Ultimate Secret, recalls how
Carl Jung spoke in 1959 of a religion vacuum in the heart of
modern man.

"In our world miracles do not happen any more, and we feel that
something simply must happen which will provide an answer or show
a way out.....it is, of course, the expectation of a Saviour."

If true, how bleak.   If not, then we had better join Lord Hill-
Norton on his mountain top.

     In a recent 'research study' done by UTMB Neuropsychology Galveston on
theeffects of migrane headaches upon lifestyle, a few CURIOUS questions arose,
being that my wife was a participant, she was able to relay this information to
me.  (She had recently been scheduled for a Cat Scan to diagnose unusual
migrane headaches)
  The questionairres were in general, mostly generic, but the following
questions were asked that make me feel *perhaps* something more is being
studied than just headaches...
  1) Have you ever felt you were being watched?
next question was a clincher...
  2) Do you believe in Extraterrestrial life?

I see little reason that such questions should be included in a purely
scientific study unless the medical profession has turned 180 degrees and
suddenly believes in extraterrestrials...

  (still waiting for the results of the Cat-Scan... although I wonder if we'll
get to see what was actually taken, or not...)

yeah.. whatever.. I'm back at school again now though which means for the
next 4 months I have virtually no time again.. I've still gotta have a look

gonna find the time for this project.. luckily the weight has been lifted
off now. It doesn't count as much!!

 Hello there.  I was just wondering what the basic direction of this book
might be.  I'm very new to this area of interest and one of the first books
I read was by brad Steiger - as I recall it was called "Mysteries Of Time
and Space" - and in it he virtually allowed John Keel to debunk the whole
Philadelphia Experiment as nonsense and the product of one man's (Carl
Allende's) imagination.  Has he now changed his mind?  If you have the time
I would be interested to hear what he (and you) have to say on this matter.

Hello there.  I'm fairly new to this area and so my knowledge of some of the
people you've mentioned is quite limited, however I thought I might pass
this on to you for what its worth and get your reaction (if any).

About four years ago, I was driving down to Melbourne from the country and
had the radio tuned to a program called "Australia Overnight". The program
is no longer on, alas, but that night they had on a gentleman who's name I
have unfortunately forgotten, who was talking about UFO's.  The host of the
program invited people to call in and ask questions of the guest and to pass
on their thoughts in the matter.

One caller rang in and asked the guest about Stan Deyo and his "The Cosmic
Conspiracy."  The guest was fairly noncommital about him and the caller then
went on to relate the following story; He said that his older brother worked
at STW-9 in Perth and the Sales Manager there was none other that Stan Deyo.
 The brother asked if he was the same Stan Deyo who ha authored the book and
Deyo admitted that he was.  He also said that at certain times of the year,
publishers are keen on getting " Beach reading material" and that when his
original novel was rejected he simply made up a book he would buy - namely
"The Cosmic Conspiracy".

The guest and the host - Owen Delaney - said that "anything was possible"
and left the matter at that.

Do you know if these assertions are true, and whether Mr Deyo is still in
the book-authoring business?  And what sort of credibility did you think the
book had?

I'd be very keen to hear your thoughts -or anyone else's who might read
this.

MIND OVER MATTER, BERMUDA TRIANGLE, OUT OF BODY EXPERIENCES AND
STONEHENGE.

I am interested in mpurchasing them, but wondered whether anyone who
has already purchased them has any comment on their accuracy and
genuinity...

I'm currently reading through all the MJ-12 and related files in the ParaNet
area here on Zoist, and I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts or
opinions to offer?

The files seem a little old - early 1990 seems the most recent - and so I'm
wondering if anything new may have been brought forward to either
discredit or strengthen the veracity of facts(?) stated therein.

Jim Speiser has rated most of the docs as hoaxes or probable hoaxes, but
there seems to be an enormous body of books out there that claim otherwise.

Does anyone know if 'Strawberry Ice-cream' has sudddenly became the  USA's
number one flavour as a result of "Falcon's" (Or was it Condor's?)
revelations about EBE's loving that particular type of frozen food?

Final question - if MJ-12 was supposed to be "Majestic - 12" , why have the
"J" at all?  Wouldn't M-12 be the natural contraction of this name?

Hi there Kent,
Thanks for your message, but I wonder sometimes about such heresay
stories.
I got hold of "The Cosmic Conspiracy" several years ago, when I was in
the book trade.  It is my opinion that the book was definitely
suppressed - for some reason or another - so - so much for "beach
reading" as it did not work.
If you have read the book, you will realise that it contains basic
conspiracy theory stuff on - The Trilateral Commission, the Council on
Foreign Relations, UFO stuff from his own alleged CIA background, Plus
lots of Tesla type anti-gravity research.
He sums the whole she-bang up into a colossal "religious" conspiracy,
ie good vs evil, or God vs Satan, if you like, with us as the pawns in
a cosmic, chess battle for possession of our souls.  (Don't know why
they'd want mine).
Stan Deyo definitely believes what he has written, he did not write it
for "beach reading".
If you want I can give you his phone number in Western Australia, and
if you ring him, you will see for yourself that he is passionate about
what he believes is happening.
He recently wrote another book called "The Vindicator Scrolls".  It
carries on the "conspiracy" if you like.
First up there is a lot of stuff (quoted from the Bible) where he
tries proving that Atlantis existed, but in the Gulf of Aden in the
Middle East somewhere.
The rest of the book is full of amazing "suppressed technolgy", some
of which I believe has been made to work by readers of the book who
tried it out for themselves.
He also has an update on the UFO conspiracy, where he summarises what
Bill Cooper has said about the Secret Government and treaties with
Alien races etc.  He does not really take sides on this issue, but
adds his own personal experiences - if anything they actually dovetail
with what Cooper claims, giving Cooper more credibility.

Both books are extremely hard to obtain.  My opinion is that the
Cosmic Conspiracy was suppressed because of the sensitive
technological information it contained - especially the stuff on Tesla
etc.

If you don't believe that information can be suppressed, think again.
There are government injunctions in place from decades ago, banning
the viewing of many books in our best libraries from being seen by the
general public.  One needs written permission from University Deans or
similar "status" to view these.  (I have experience of this).

Also on the above note, try going to any decent science encyclopaedia,
especially American or Australian ones, and find any references to
Nikola Tesla.  I have a classic one, - the Cadillac Modern
Encyclopaedia - modern, recent and American.  So thick that I need to
lift weights for a few days to lift it - Nikola Tesla's name does not
appear as a listing!

Anyway, enough of this, thanks for the line, and I hope this has been
of some help.

Hi Duncan,
I was talking to Bob Laidlaw recently regarding a book with the
title "Behold a Pale Horse" by Cooper and was wondering if that is
the Cooper book you were referring to that is hard to get. Could you
please give me details on how I can purchase a copy here in
Melbourne as the book shops including the alternative ones havent
heard of it or have it in their most recent publishing listings.
          Also I enjoyed the latest copy of Nexus...I was surprised
to see it for sale in the local seven-eleven store!! In regards to
the article of the Hypogeum in Malta, I visited it last year and
noticed their were boarded off sections as we went through. I did
not hear of any disappearances but since I have relatives there I
will make some enquiries to get further details.
              On a different track... I got a little curious about
the  new legislation regarding the Banning of Political Ads on the
Electronic Media and got a copy of the Background of the proppsed
legislation from th Fed member here,  There are some interesting
facts that should be made public and wonder if you want me to upload

Hmm, so the part about Stan Deyo living in WA is correct?  And would you
know if by any chance he did/does actually work in sales at STW-9?  If so,
it makes the person's story ery interesting as I had no idea that Stan lived
in Australia, let alone what state he lived in.

Is it at all conceivable that such a treaty could exist today?  With so much
information leaking out of the US -Watergate, IranGate (perhaps the delayof
hostage release), Defense contractors over-billing etc.- how would you keep
something like this secret?  And wouldn't it follow that other governments
must be involved - particularly the Soviets - and how can they keep these
things secret?  (By that I mean the part of some of the related MJ-12 dox
that refer to Aliens requiring human blood and so on.)

I was reading about Tesla in a 1969/70 vintage edition of Encyclopaedia
Britannica.  Does this count?  And have you ever wondered about the fact
that Tesla was not "one of our boys"?  If he's been an American or British,
he would probably have had several movies and mini-series made about him
already.  Instead we seem to have heaps on the self-perpetuating  publicity
machine, Thomas Edison - who apparently had a team of cameramen following
him around, making 'Edison' newsreels that were screened around the world.
(My grandmother remembers seeing them as part of travelling "picture shows"
in country Victoria during the early 30's).   By that standard, Nikola
Tesla is an unappreciated/forgotten man.   What sort of things about Tesla
would you suggest have been "suppressed"?  I remember reading about his
"World Energy" device and sometthing or other about a "weather controlling"
machine (?)  but apart from that I'm in a position to be educated!

If you can suggest any literature on the above, or that deals with what
